FALL IS HERE...
The gracefulness of Fall is here with all of its majestic splender so dear. If a keyword is searched that many times in Overture, then 100 times out of 100 times, the competition you will have to outrank will be extremely fierce. I will be teaching you later why starting with these highly competitive phrases is not smart.
By the end of this course you will be able to target HUGE keywords/phrases such as "weight loss," but for now let's start off with keywords with less competition such as weight loss picture, weight loss story, safe weight loss. Get more traffic with those keywords and then graduate to larger keywords. When we have a list of 3, 4 keywords go to Google and check out the competition to see exactly how hard it will be to optimize specific keywords. You will notice that the #1 website for "weight loss story" is:
http://www.runwalkjog.com/weight loss success storyhtm which is not a top level webpage, meaning it's not simply http://www.runwalkjog.com. Typically, if a website page is ranking well in Google, we have an immediate advantage if we choose to target the same keywords with our homepage. I will go into more detail why it's easier to rank well for your homepage than any other webpage on your website.
Note: A quick definition of Page Rank is Google's way of giving a specific value to how popular your website is. A "vote" is simply when another website places a link pointed to your website." Page Rank is one of the many factors that Google takes into account when ranking websites. In order to see your own website's Page Rank, as well as others, you must have the Google's Toolbar installed on your computer. You can get that for free here: http://toolbar.google.com. Once you have installed Google's Toolbar, it will be located at the top of your browser, I will teach you how to get thousands of links pointing to your website in a matter of a few days.
Every website on the Internet is created using a programming languge called "html". In order to see the "html code" we must click "view" then "source" within our web browser. This will open up a text file for us to have a look at and see if this website is actually optimizing their "Onpage Optimization factors". There are 2 types of optimization methods, "Onpage and Offpage" Optimization. We will cover Offpage Optimization in later Chapters. As we view the source file from this website, we need to look for a few things: Whether or not they are using 1 header tags and are placing the keywords "weight loss story" within those tags. Whether or not they are using their main keyword in the (title) tags of the website. Whether or not they have bolded, underlined, italicized the words "weight loss story" anywhere in the body of the webpage. The final things we want to note is whether or not they've placed the keyword once at the very beginning of the copy, and once at the very end of the copy. The main idea behind ranking well on Google is to analyze the top ranked websites to find out what they are doing and then do those things, BUT better. It is best to analyze the top 5 ranking websites for each keyword.

Optimize our webpage. Select a title for our website (page title should include ONLY our main keywords. The least amount of words you can place in the TITLE, the more weight Google will give to each of the keywords and the higher you will rank. Always Combine Keywords In The Page Title. Google will ONLY see all 3 of our keywords when it looks at our title. Combining keywords in our title is a great way to boost the strength of each individual keyword. This will have an immediate impact on your ranking.
Add h1 header tags: The h1 header tag should be as far towards the top of the left hand side of the page as possible. When Google reads the page it views the text from the top left hand side, and then following down to the bottom right hand side of the page. Place h1 header tag on the top left hand or top/middle portion of webpage. You can think of h1 as a title for whatever content you have on your webpage.
Create an h2 header tag as a sub-heading for the webpage. Place your 2nd most important keyword in the h2 header tag. The h2 tag should be placed somewhere towards the top half of webpage. It's best to place primary keywords in h1 tags and secondary keywords within h2 tags.
After doing this, we need to write the content of our webpage. Sprinkle the main keywords evenly throughout the copy, BUT don’t overdo it. If you simply repeat keywords over and over, Google will see this as search engine spam and you will not rank well. Mention each keyword in a natural way as you are writing, but be sure to include at least one of the keywords per 1-2 paragraphs, depending on how large your page is.

These people claim they have done nothing wrong and are absolutely clueless as to why their website is no longer in Google. The purpose of this lesson is to teach you 1 very important thing... There are many Onpage and Offpage ranking factors that can cause Google to ban your webiste. Today we will focus on only the Onpage factors that can cause your website to be banned -- Hidden Text; Alt Image Tag Spamming; META Tag Stuffing...
DON'T GET YOUR WEBSITE BANNED BY GOOGLE BY ACCIDENT...
In this Chapter I am going to dive into some of the Offpage optimization factors and techniques that you should never ever do. First, let's dispel some popular myths:
1. If a "link farm" is linking to your website you'll get penalized or banned from Google.
2. If unrelated websites are linking to you, your website will get penalized.
3. Page Rank 1 websites won't help you because Google does not display Page Rank 1 websites in their backlink list.
None of the above are true statements for the simple fact that anything a competitor could do to harm your website will never be penalized by Google. The only way you could get penalized by Offpage Optimization is if you link out to "bad neighborhoods," which would be:
link farms; penalized websites that are "gray barred by Google...
You would think this would be a pretty easy thing to stay away from -- WRONG. As an example: Let's say I had a website and exchanged links with your website. At the time that we exchanged links both of our websites were very quality, related websites, with a Google Page Rank of 5. This would be an ideal link trade. Several months go by, and in the meantime, I am doing all kinds of "black-hat SEO". Google decides to ban my website which gives me a "gray barred Page Rank". I am completely gone from Google. You could care less since it's not your website. Well, guess what? You’re still linking to my website, which is now considered to be a "bad neighbor" and you could actually get penalized MAJORLY for linking to me, without even doing anything differently to your own website.
You could actually drop hundreds of search positions without knowing what you've done wrong. "It's very important to keep a close eye on who you are linking to." If you do a link exchange with a website, check back to that website every once in a while to make sure that they haven't been "gray barred" by Google. This is one of the top reasons people get penalized by Google, and the sad part is, they have no idea what they have done wrong. An easy way to check on your link partners is to use the tool that I mentioned in Chapter 4. You can actually use SEO Elite to see if you are linking out to any bad neighbors. If you are, delete their link immediately and I can almost guarantee you will see an increase in your ranking... You would be amazed at the number of websites that have no idea why they are not ranking well.

This Bothers The Hell Out Of Me…
It bothers me, it annoys me, when I hear people say, "You can make money on the Net doing NOTHING, we'll provide you with all the tools," blah, blah... blah.
What IS that really?
Come on now. Somehow, people get into this mindset, maybe not you, but a lot of people think they can just get on the Net and make ridiculous money, without working.
Bullshit. You can't do that. You need patience, education, perseverance, knowledge...
ALL the things you need offline, you need to incorporate online if you want to succeed. I never have said you can make money without working.
Yes, it gets much better after you've automated your business.
I make good money because I've invested time and energy into my business in the beginning. And, if you want to make the cut, you have to do the exact same thing I did. Sure, you can automate your business EVENTUALLY and make great money doing less work.
However, in the BEGINNING, you WILL have to WORK. So, it bothers me when people act like, "You don't have to work."
Well, get it out of your system. It doesn't work like that, all people have to work initially.
Get ready to invest time and energy in your business to get it up and running, it is crucial to your success.
Do that and I promise you won't get stuck hook line and sinker for some bullshit program.
Now, are there shortcuts? Of COURSE there are, but, wealth without work?
But SUCCESS without work?
I don't think so.
It's the law of cause and effect. You have to plant the seed. Once you do that, you're welcome to reap the rewards, but don't assume you don't have to do anything.
All wealthy people tend to their gardens. Keep that in mind when you do business.
Anyway, it's time for ME to get back to work here.

When it comes to making money online there are three elements that everyone MUST have in order to succeed.
1. Something to sell

Getting items 1 and 2 set up and in place are as easy as pie. In fact, you can have these in place in the next 10 minutes by bcoming an affiliate.
But it's that third element, getting REAL people to come to your site and buy something, that has most people stumped.
Getting visitors to your site is called, in Internet terms, getting traffic. And there is no other topic on which so much is written, and so much is wrong.
Being a fairly simple minded fellow, I like to keep things simple and easy to understand. In that light, here are some thoughts on understanding and getting traffic.
There are only two types of traffic.
1. Free Traffic
2. Paid Traffic
What this means is that you are going to have to buy traffic through either your efforts (free traffic) or your pocketbook (paid traffic).
Let's look at each and see how they work. This week we focus on free traffic.
If ever there was a siren song of the digital age, 'free traffic' is it.
Can you really get absolutely free traffic to your site? Sure. Can you build a business based on this traffic? Yes.
BUT - and there is always a but - you will have to learn how to get it and work hard as well. If that's okay with you, let's look at how it works.
Here are the main sources of free traffic, along with a word about each.
>>> SEARCH ENGINES - Often touted as the #1 way to get free traffic, the tactic here is to get your site listed in the venerated "top ten" search results. You can't trick the search engines, so the best way to do this is to provide content, and lots of it.
If your site is helpful to human readers you will do well. If you try and outsmart the search engines to get traffic you will go broke buying the latest and greatest thing that simply won't work, or won't work for long.
Create a CONTENT RICH site and the search engines will reward you by displaying that site when people search for the type of information you provide.
>>> FREE ADS - Free ads are a mixed blessing. They are free, which is good. They usually don't work, which is bad.
If you can get a free ad in a place where ads are usually sold, like the free ad you get for subscribing to some ezines or classified ad sites that are visited by people, then it might be worth the time.
BUT - ad blasters and automated submitters do not work in testing and are to be avoided.
>>> ARTICLES - Without a doubt, marketing with articles is the #1 free traffic method. You don't need to be Hemmingway to do this.
All you have to do is write a short article - about 500 words works best - that describes a problem people face and also provides ways to solve that problem.
Once your article is written, you can submit it to article directories, ezines, other website owners, and more to get the widest possible distribution.
Write and submit an article a week and very soon you will get very interested visitors who are proven to buy.
>>> VIRAL MARKETING - Viral marketing basically means creating something of value that others can give away while making sure you benefit from it being given away.
The most common form of this is a short booklet.
Creating a viral marketing booklet is a win-win situation. You win because the links in the product are yours, so you get paid when people click. Readers win because you provide valuable information and they can give the booklet free from their website.
Create a viral report and get visitors from the links inside the report, as well as visitors who want to give the report to others.
>>> PUBLISH AN EZINE - Publishing an ezine is highly profitable and easy to do. All you need to do is gather, or write, articles about a specific subject and publish an ezine (like the one you ar ereading now) on a schedule. That might mean every week, or every month.
You can get great articles from all sorts of places, like article directories or ezine directories.
Publish an ezine, offer it to everyone in your address book and who visits your site, and watch your traffic grow.
>>> PUBLISH A BLOG
This is super easy today. If you have a hosting account, the chances are you have blogging software on that account free. If not, you can always use Blogger.
The basic idea here is the same as a website ... provide great content and the search engines send people.
The advantage to a blog is that you can have some interactivity by letting people comment, and you can easily structure your blog for easy reading.
Set up a blog today, provide great content, and the search engines will send traffic over time.
>>> PARTICIPATE ON FORUMS
This is an excellent, and free, way to earn while you learn. The idea here is to visit forums that are specific to your site and post questions or make comments.
This works well if you understand reciprocity and are willing to give a bit before you receive. It does not work at all if your forum post is simply an ad in disguise.
Once forum members get to know and trust you a bit they will visit the site you list in your signature area. If you visit the forums specific to your topic of interest and get involved, you will get very targeted free traffic on a steady basis.
Other methods of getting traffic free include
* Provide endorsements
* Press releases
* Linking
* And more

What is True Wealth?
I talk about how August is a great month for reflection. I spent time reflecting on my past and where I am today.
I am truly grateful for everything I have done, all that I achieved, and the people that helped me along the way.
I remember reading a book by Sir John Templeton (a billionaire), that talks about the meaning of "true wealth." In the book, Templeton talks about what true wealth means. True wealth is "gratitude." It doesn't matter what you make; whether you make ten dollars, ten thousand dollars, ten million dollars a year... if you are grateful you have true wealth.
I know in my signature I say, "Money Talks, Bullshit Walks," and I am sure people think all I care about is making money.
Honestly, I believe the EXACT opposite.
If you knew me personally, you would know I don't believe money is THE most important part of life. Your health, peace of mind, freedom... these are all MORE important than money alone.
BUT...
Money does make your life easier, it provides you freedom, and it allows you to remain healthy and put food on your table. While money may not be the MOST important item in one's life, it is very important to take care of your finances.
You MUST set a goal to become financially independent, so you do not have to worry about money ever again.
How can you enjoy what you do if you have to worry about paying the bills? When you do not have to worry about money, then you are free to focus on tasks that are more important to you.
So, I would definitely say I am grateful for what I have, but I do not plan to stop making money. I still have goals, huge massive financial goals, I want to achieve. I am just getting started, even as a multi-millionaire. There is so much I can do and learn.
If you have followed me for any length of time, you will know I am not static, I constantly learn. I encourage you to do the same to experience true wealth.
So, be grateful. I believe true wealth really is being grateful for what you have. Be grateful you have a house, you have a healthy family, and you feel ok.
I don't want to get metaphysical on you, but when you are grateful, it is much easier to attract wealth to you and live an easier life.

It's a brilliant movie, filled with great scenes, great lines, and great characters. One of the most memborable pieces of dialouge is spoken by Don Corleone after he's asked how he will convince someone to do something that person would prefer not to do. The Godfather replies,

Essentially, the old man is saying, "He better buy what I'm selling... or he's dead meat." I gotta admit, this approach is a little extreme and probably not something you want to try in your business, but it is a perfect example of an irreesistible offer!
An irresistible offer is an "invitation" that is so clearly compelling, so powerful, and so obviously attractive that no one in his/her right mind could refuse. That's the kind of offer you want to make, too.
Personally, I like to create the offer FIRST before I put my fingers on the keyboard or write a single word of copy. The initial idea for an offer may come quickly, but I may spend days just thinking about it, brainstorming it, framing it and re-framing it, and playing around with different combination of offers.

Traffic Conversion Secrets Finally Revealed!

People tell me all the time that their websites "doesn't convert."
(Not sure what "conversion" is? It's that "magical" transformation that turns a site visitor into a product/service buyer)
If you're a website owner who's unhappy with the business your Internet presence is generating, I wouldn't be suprised if you think your copy is the culprit, too. A lot of people think that if there's a problem with conversion that the sales copy must be at fault.
This is WRONG THINKING…and potentially fatal to your website's success.
Don’t misunderstand me… My business is copywriting. It's my bread and butter. (Also my caviar and champagne!) I come from a traditional sales and marketing background where the emphasis is on "words that sell."
The world's most brilliant sales letter for the world's most incredible product won't necessarily generate the through-the-roof results you might expect. The truth is that turning a casual site visitor into a "here's my credit card take whatever you want" buyer takes MUCH MORE than just effective copywriting.
Converting prospects into clients and customers takes more than a super headline... More than a list of "what's in it for you"... More than an ironclad guarantee and more than a page of testimonials from celebrities and authorities.
This isn't a war that will be won with words. You need more...much more.
If you think of your website as a high-powered sports car, your sales letter is the engine. But as any racer on the NASCAR circuit will tell you, without the right fuel and other essential components, an engine can't run smoothly and a car will never be first to the checkerd flag.
I don’t care if you have the most powerful "engine" in the world...the greatest sales letter ever written. If you're not taking advantage of technology and leveraging human psychology in your sales and marketing efforts, you're simply out of the race.
I usually wear my copywriter's "hat" when I do the rant and load you up with lots of ideas for creating great sales messages. The how's and why's...the do's and don'ts... the nuts and bolts.
But this time around, I don't want to focus on the engine. Instead, we're going to make a "pit stop" to look under the hood of "killer" websites and talk about everyting that's working to power their success.

Conversion Secret #1 - (Less May Be Better Than More) Quality Versus Quantity...

The number of people that visit your website is meaningless if they don't buy anything when they're there. You can have ten thousand people hitting your site a month, but if they're looking for camping equipment and you're selling baby strollers, you're not going to convert a single visitor.
And if you're paying per click, this will kill you. Your marketing dollars are going up in smoke.
On the other hand, you can have less traffic, but if theey're targeted, you'll have a very high conversion rate. If your baby stroller site has a banner ad at a baby formula store, chances are the people who click through will be more likely to buy from you.
Here's something you MUST keep in mind: "more likely to buy" doesn't mean that they willbuy. That's why tracking your traffic is so important. You have to know exactly where your traffic is coming from.
Are they from Per-Pay-Click? Are they from affiliates? Are they from offline marketing? What percentage is from what promotion? Unless you know the answers, you can't build on your success.

Okay, you're not converting 97% of the people that come to your site... But does that mean that their bisit has to go into the "lost cause" column? No way!
If you paid to have those people visit, you can't just let them get away! You need to get some kind of return on your investment. Why not do an exit pop-up survey, asking them why they're not buying?
Want to really get a visitor's attention. Use an audio pop-up. When people leave your site you can have a pop-up with an audio portion like this:
“Wait, before you go, could you please help me out? I'm not trying to sell you anything, I just need some information. Could you tell me the single biggest reason that you're not giving us a try today? What's the ONE reason that's stopping you from purchasing (my product name)? Just fill out the box below and click on the submit button. Your opinion matters to me.."
Boom! You've just created your own "consumer feedback forum" and you haven't spent a penny on some high-priced focus groups. Once you get a bunch of responses to your exit poll, you'll be able to identify patterns in what people say. Use what you learn to make the changes that you know for certain will bump up your conversion rate.
Success and failure shouldn't be based on guesswork or assumptions. It doesn't matter what you think is the reason people aren't buying. It doesn't matter what I think is the reason people aren't buying.
The only thing that matters is what your customers think...that's the "pulse" of the marketplace and the lifeblood of your future business. And with an exit survey, your customers will tell you what you need to do in order to convince them to buy your product!
People consider me a marketing wizard because I'm so good at market reserach. Well, I may be a "wizard," but I'm not a genius, and I certainly didn't earn my Ph.D in marketing. That's because you don't have to be a marketing genius to get your finger on the pulse of your industry.
Here's the secret: I am not the marketing wizard. You're not the marketing wizard. Your CUSTOMER is the marketing wizard.
All you have to do to learn the "mysteries" of more sales is ASK your customers... And make sure you ask the people who decided not to be your customers, too.

The number of people that visit your website is meaningless if they don't buy anything when they're there. You can have ten thousand people hitting your site a month, but if they're looking for camping equipment and you're selling baby strollers, you're not going to convert a single visitor.
And if you're paying per click, this will kill you. Your marketing dollars are going up in smoke.
On the other hand, you can have less traffic, but if theey're targeted, you'll have a very high conversion rate. If your baby stroller site has a banner ad at a baby formula store, chances are the people who click through will be more likely to buy from you.
Here's something you MUST keep in mind: "more likely to buy" doesn't mean that they willbuy. That's why tracking your traffic is so important. You have to know exactly where your traffic is coming from.
Are they from Per-Pay-Click? Are they from affiliates? Are they from offline marketing? What percentage is from what promotion? Unless you know the answers, you can't build on your success.

Okay, you're not converting 97% of the people that come to your site... But does that mean that their bisit has to go into the "lost cause" column? No way!
If you paid to have those people visit, you can't just let them get away! You need to get some kind of return on your investment. Why not do an exit pop-up survey, asking them why they're not buying?
Want to really get a visitor's attention. Use an audio pop-up. When people leave your site you can have a pop-up with an audio portion like this:
“Wait, before you go, could you please help me out? I'm not trying to sell you anything, I just need some information. Could you tell me the single biggest reason that you're not giving us a try today? What's the ONE reason that's stopping you from purchasing (my product name)? Just fill out the box below and click on the submit button. Your opinion matters to me.."
Boom! You've just created your own "consumer feedback forum" and you haven't spent a penny on some high-priced focus groups. Once you get a bunch of responses to your exit poll, you'll be able to identify patterns in what people say. Use what you learn to make the changes that you know for certain will bump up your conversion rate.
Success and failure shouldn't be based on guesswork or assumptions. It doesn't matter what you think is the reason people aren't buying. It doesn't matter what I think is the reason people aren't buying.
The only thing that matters is what your customers think...that's the "pulse" of the marketplace and the lifeblood of your future business. And with an exit survey, your customers will tell you what you need to do in order to convince them to buy your product!

Whatever seems to be working for others they jump into with wild abandon, without considering their true talents, abilities and interests.

It isn't working because you have no focus. You must have focus. You must think like an entrepreneur. Focus is one of the most vital aspects of your success. My advise to these newbies is shut down 29 of your sites and focus on one site, the one that best represents your interests.
Optimize it. Work on refining it. Refine your sales process and your back end on this single site and make it successful BEFORE you move on to the next site.
